Reflexology and
Reflexology for Cancer
& Palliative Care
Reflexology is a complementary therapy that is not only a science but also an art (1).
Becoming a fully qualified Reflexologist demands lots of study and a minimum of one hundred practice treatments.
Remember, reflexology is a complementary therapy, which means that it works alongside medical treatments. Reflexology does not cure a chronic condition.

During my study, I have learned some wonderful skills which include:
-
Working on your entire spine
-
Your Vagus Nerve
-
Your Chakras
-
And more...

What does the science say about Reflexology?
-
When it comes to patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS,) foot Reflexology is safe and could be a safe and effective treatment to reduce physical and psychological symptoms and it may improve their quality-of-life (2)
-
When it comes to Lower Back Pain (LBP), foot reflexology seems to offer good results as a treatment (3)
-
When it comes to sleep disturbance, foot reflexology is a non-invasive intervention and it may be considered to improve sleep quality (4)

-
Patients suffering from breast and lung cancer, experience a significant decrease in anxiety following foot reflexology treatment. Furthermore, breast cancer patients experienced a significant reduction in pain (7)

Reflexology and Reflexology for Cancer & Palliative Care at Lavender Therapy
As a reflexologist, I apply some pressure to specific points, reflexes, on your feet or hands to
promote homeostasis, a state of balance among all the body systems to work at their best
capacity.

Modern reflexology is built on the principle that the feet or hands have 'reflex' points that
correspond to the various systems and organs throughout the body.
Like any other Complementary Therapy, it will be wonderful to have more large-scale research
to support the benefit of Reflexology. Just like any other treatment, there are contraindications, and I am happy to discuss those with you.
Is it for me?
My Reflexology treatment is not only aimed at adults wherever they are in their journey but also adults going through tough times who need some “me” time and relaxation.

After a thorough consultation, we will discuss the best treatment for you.
